One bag holds 2 ounces/60 grams of dried pine mushrooms. The pine mushroom, also known as the matsutake mushroom, is very widely used and loved in Japan and has only recently become more popular in North America. They are harvested along the pacific northwest and each one is carefully hand picked by our foragers. These unique mushrooms have a spicy aroma, and an earthy, pine-like flavour that can be reminiscent of cinnamon. The pine mushroom pairs nicely with seafood, and makes an especially flavourful soup. The piney flavour of this mushroom does not pair as well with dairy products, so it’s best to stick with dishes that include soy, and vinegars.
